The Kentucky Bar Association has set up a phone line that residents in Allen County and others affected by the February tornado can call to receive free legal assistance.

In addition to Allen County, residents of Bath, Christian, Fayette, Hardin, Harrison, Hart, Hopkins, Meade, Mercer, Monroe, Muhlenberg, Nicholas, Shelby and Spencer counties are eligible to receive assistance. The assistance is available by calling (877) 245-7200.

FEMA Disaster 1746

What started out as a severe thunderstorm warning issued by the National Weather Service, on Tuesday February 5-6, ended up as a disaster! 

Tornado Debris

State Emergency Operations Center stood up prior to and activated in support of the severe weather in Kentucky and state and emergency officials monitored the situation throughout the night.

Overnight-widespread storm damage occurred throughout the state as a squall line moved across the commonwealth from west to east, and south to north impacting the entire state. Causing several counties and cites to declare local states of emergencies.

Hundreds of homes and several businesses were reported damaged or destroyed, numerous injuries and seven fatalities were confirmed as results of the storms and tornadoes.

Governor Beshear declared that a state of emergency existed in the commonwealth and requested federal assistance from President Bush.
