This document highlights the earthquake potential that many Kentuckians do not realize: an earthquake can happen in Kentucky - ANY time, ANYwhere!
Thirty-four of Kentucky’s 120 counties have experienced a documented earthquake. It is also important to remember that there are many earthquakes outside of Kentucky’s boarders that also affect us: New Madrid, Wabash, and the recent Louisa, Virginia earthquake. This is not an all inclusive list but merely a sample of the many counties and regions within Kentucky that have experienced one or more documented earthquakes.
